4 adventure travel experiences in Victoria Falls you’ll love
Zimbabwe is an incredible country for so many reasons. If you’re an adventure travel kind of person here’s a list of things you’ve gotta do when you visit Victoria Falls
Table of Contents
Take a dip in on the edge of Victoria Falls
Swimming in a croc infested Zambezi? Check. Dangling over the edge of a 100 meter drop? Double check (that’s 320 feet for you Americans). A highlight of any trip to Zimbabwe or Zambia? TRIPLE CHECK. Devil’s Pool is an unmissable experience.
This is an experience you can’t get anywhere else and will live in your brain forever. Devil’s Pool is a rocky little pool right up against the drop of the Zambezi on the Zambian side of the falls where you can swim and hang out.
You can only do this with the registered tour group and for a good reason. You’re literally floating on the edge of a waterfall. There is a very specific route mapped out you need to swim through in order to get there and not get swept out over the falls. There, you’ll get to peer right over, take some pictures, and wave at the people standing on the other side wondering if they’re hallucinating.
I recommend you go in one of the earliest groups so you get to see the epic rainbow since it will disappear as the sun rises higher. Plus, they’ll serve you breakfast right after. Every adventurer needs a full stomach.
Remember, this is an experience that’s only available during dry season when Victoria Falls is much less full. It’s way too dangerous to go when the Zambezi is in full swing.
Explore the bush on a Rhino Walking Safari
If you’re the kind of adventure traveller who is in it for the animals, a walking safari is definitely calling your name. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a safari without the vehicle. You’ll enter the park with a guide and a ranger and you get to walk through the bush looking for white rhinos and any other game you might stumble across.
Walking alongside a rhino and her calf truly gives you an insight into just how big and beautiful these animals are. Also, being on the ground lets you appreciate some of the plants and smaller animals you usually ride right on by. Remember to wear bush appropriate gear and to pack your camera. You’re gonna capture some stunning moments.

Get a bird’s eye view of Victoria Falls
If you’ve already experienced the view of Victoria Falls from INSIDE the Zambezi, the next best view is from above.
So take a helicopter tour and fly right over the Zambezi and the falls to get a full appreciation of just how incredible this place is. Although you’re sitting still, this is the kind of view that gets your heart rate racing. We did ours right before sunset and it was STUNNING.
I was so on the fence about this tour since it’s not exactly cheap. But I’m SO GLAD we went.
Conquer the rapids
As above, so below. No waterfall is complete without some rad rapids. The Zambezi’s rapids do not disappoint. If you’re looking for an adventure to cool down in the hot Zim sun, go white water rafting in the canyons below the falls.
There’s many tours available all ranging in experience level so even if it’s your first time you can find a group that works for you.
